Welcome to the new edition of the Natolin Quarterly! The last quarter of 2017 is an exciting and busy time for us at Natolin.

First and foremost, the application period for 2018–19 kicks off on 1 November 2017, with the online application portal open until 17 January 2018 – so make sure to apply on time and, please, pass on the news of this great opportunity to bright and ambitious potential future students!

Also in this edition: lots of exciting events to read about - to name just a few: the first semester study trip to Ukraine, our opening ceremony with the President of the Republic of Poland, a Public Debate on Identities and Values between the EU and its Neighbours at the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw, as well as a new series of events organized by the Natolin Library: “Meet the Authors”.

Opening Ceremony at the College of Europe in Natolin for the academic year 2017-2018

The Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2017-2018 at the Natolin campus took place on Friday 29 September 2017. Our guest of honour was the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Andrzej DUDA. Find out more here.

First semester study trip to Ukraine for Natolin students
From 1-6 October 2017, the students of the Natolin campus of the College of Europe took part in a study trip to Kyiv and Lviv where they had the opportunity to meet with key opinion-makers, such as politicians, government officials, diplomats, scholars, journalists, and civil society activists. The Three Revolutions Project (3R) – Unique research materials now publicly available
A collection of interviews with participants, politicians, journalists and representatives of NGOs gathered within the framework of the project "Three Revolutions – A study of Protest Movements in Post-Soviet Ukraine (1990-2014)" has been made publicly available on the 3R Project website. Find out more here.

Closing Ceremony for the John Maynard Keynes Promotion 2016-2017 at the Natolin campus
On 14 June 2017, the College of Europe in Natolin held the Closing Ceremony for the John Maynard Keynes Promotion 2016-2017. The keynote speech  was delivered by our special guest Madam President Atifete JAHJAGA who served as the fourth—and the first female—President of Kosovo. Find out more here.
Fifth edition of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy: "Digital Community: Security, Information and Economy"
From 2-15 June 2017, the College of Europe in Natolin hosted the fifth edition of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA) entitled "Digital Community: Security, Information and Economy". The now annual summer school gathered over fifty young leaders from across the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans. Learn more here.
Fifth European Neighbourhood Policy PhD Summer School organized by the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair
Following the success of previous summer schools held in Natolin, the ENP Chair organized the fifth ENP PhD Summer School entitled:"In Search of Resilience in the EU and its Neighbourhoods: Reconciling Democracy and Security?" The event was organized in collaboration with the ECPR, the ECPR-SGEU, and TEPSA. Find out more here.
Call for Papers: Chapters for first volume of the publication "Three Revolutions. Between mobilization and change"
Following the International Symposium "Three Revolutions: Portraits of Ukraine" held at the College of Europe Natolin campus on 28 February – 1 March 2017, the Three Revolutions Project invites interested authors to send their proposed presentations, based on current unpublished research, for the final book publication. Public Debate on Identities and Values between the EU and its Neighbours at the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw
On 23 October 2017, the Natolin campus of the College of Europe organized a public debate in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw entitled: "A Wider Europe? Debate on Identities and Values between the EU and its Neighbours". The debate was live-streamed and the video will soon be available on our Youtube channel. Find out more here.
"Meet the Authors" - Inauguration of a new series of events organized by the Natolin Library
The Natolin Library is pleased to announce the inauguration of its series "Meet the Authors". The meetings will enable the participants to meet important authors in various disciplines on a more informal basis than is possible with a special lecture, with plenty of time for discussion. The first meeting took place on 24 October 2017. More information here.
Guest lecture by Professor Andrew WILSON, Professor at UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies
On 20 September 2017, Prof. Andrew WILSON, Professor at UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, came to the College of Europe in Natolin to deliver a lecture on "Ukrainian and Russian Histories: Imperial or Intertwined?". The lecture was organized in the preparation for the first semester study trip to Ukraine. Learn more here.
Guest lecture by Mr Tadeusz IWAŃSKI, Research Fellow at the Centre for Eastern Studies
On 28 September 2017, Mr Tadeusz IWAŃSKI, Research Fellow at  the Centre for Eastern Studies, gave a guest lecture at the Natolin campus of the College of Europe entitled "Political developments and reform in Ukraine since Euromaidan". The lecture was organized in preparation for the first semester study trip to Ukraine. Find out more here.
